The common name Oswego Tea comes from a combination of The Oswego (first) Peoples of Eastern Turtle Island, and early settlers made a tea from it.

Bee balm flowers attract hummingbirds, and butterflies. Each tube-shaped flower has two lips: the lower lip provides an inviting landing pad for bees and other pollinating insects.

Plants are deer and rabbit resistant, can withstand the toxic juglone produced by black walnut trees.

This particular bee balm can grow in shaded areas, unlike the common varieties.
