Also commonly known as Giant Goosefoot. Iridescent magenta salad leaves and stem tips are striking in salad with a tenderness and mineral rich flavour like lambs quarter. Sow thickly and begin cutting as plants reach 6-8” tall. Resow regularly for continuous harvests April through autumn.
Excellent for use in Edible Landscaping, as a ground covering layer.
Originally introduced by Peace Seeds from circa 1983, and a summer salad greens standard to Wild Garden Seeds ever since.
Very tall and large-leafed relative of lambs quarter, good tasting and extremely productive for leaf, fibre, and protein-rich seed for bread or the birds. Another candidate species for the seasonal insectary/wildlife hedgerow. Self-sows like its cousin lambs quarter. Germination is stepwise, week by week for a month.
